IFE for Ukrainian International Airlines

In-flight Entertainment (IFE) refers to the design and development of entertainment systems provided to airlines passengers. In-flight Entertainment Solutions can either be watching movies, entertainment channels, business, and news, listening to music, or playing online games.

UI / UX designer. I created the whole concept of the IFE system, KeyVisual, and the design of the platform itself based on research and users' needs.


Every passenger is looking for a different experience. Some are older adults, some have kids, and some are young people traveling alone for the first time. With an airplane display, they will have customizable options right in front of them. Whether selecting music to lull their toddler to sleep or a movie to shake the takeoff jitters, they should be able to find something that will suit them. The main goal was to create an interaction between passengers during the flight.


Interaction between passengers on a flight via chat and share screen requests. After the researches and validation, I organized properly the information by separating it into different screens, with clear CTAs and rating elements. The UI came to make the process of helping passengers to communicate with each other.

Key Mockups

Passenger Inclusivity: Not every passenger will own their own tablet or laptop. If an airplane does not have in-flight entertainment systems, they will not be able to watch movies, play games, or listen to music like passengers who have their own devices.

Customer Satisfaction: The entire flight experience shapes customer experience. From the food that they eat to the movies they watch, passengers will rate airline based on how well they were cared for during their trips. By including IFE, an airline can guarantee passenger comfort and happiness during the flight.

Long-Flight Distractions: IFE is especially important on long flights, where passengers will want to keep busy with a variety of activities. Industry data shows that 41% of airline passengers watch movies on flights, so they must have this option.

Improved Airline Rating: Companies with higher quality global aircraft interiors routinely receive better ratings.

I wanted the colors to be modern, impactful, connected with UIA primary colors, and to generate the contrast needed for digital uses.

key learnings

Collaboration and interaction between people during the flight is one of the keys to keeping them happy, busy, and satisfied with service. There are so many ways to connect people with the share screen option. I want people to say when the flight’s over, "but I’m not done yet. It’s been 18 hours but can we fly the plane for a couple more hours"?
